Staff and News Reports
Kelsey Reblin, a Round Rock High School senior, recently qualified as a Super Champ, the highest level of play in the United States Tennis Association (USTA) junior divisions.
Kelsey earned the points she needed to qualify for Super Champ by reaching the finals of the Midland Championship Major Zone Tournament over the weekend. Juniors need to attain 80 points to move up to supers.
Reblin, who has been playing tennis since she was 11, has enjoyed many successes in the game but reaching supers has been a long-awaited goal for the tennis prodigy, according to her mother Robin.
Along the way a trio of coaches has helped her reach her potential.
Dragons coach Hiep Chung recognized Kelsey would make it to supers early on and has been very supportive. She also attends the MAC360 Tennis Academy in Austin where Sean McKinley coaches her. Her uncle, Dennis, a San Antonio tennis pro, has also been coaching and encouraging her over the years.
Kelsey plays No. 1 singles at RRHS and won four school tournament titles last year as a junior. She also qualified for regionals.
Reblin plans on playing in college, but has yet to decide where.
